Creatlabs D800 Ultra is an industrial FDM printer for small-batch production and prototyping. It combines a large build volume with magnetic levitation linear motors. The equipment ensures stable printing of large-scale parts with engineering plastics without compromising on size, precision, and operating speed.
Key features and advantages
- Maximum print speed: 1,100 mm/s — Ensures high daily productivity, reaching 2–5 kg of finished parts depending on the nozzle diameter.
- Build volume: 800×650×650 mm — Allows creating large-scale components as a single piece without the need for subsequent gluing.
- Positioning accuracy: ±0.05 mm (per 100 mm) — Guarantees dimensional repeatability in a batch for seamless assembly of finished products.
- Magnetic levitation linear motion system: eliminates mechanical transmission friction, which significantly increases service life and surface quality.
- Active heated chamber up to 80 °C: maintains a stable temperature regime, preventing deformation when working with composites.
- Automatic XYZ offset calibration: uses AI recognition via an HD camera and microswitches, minimising operator intervention.
Technology and operating principle
The equipment architecture is based on the use of magnetic levitation linear motors. Unlike traditional belt or screw drives, this system eliminates mechanical friction, guaranteeing smooth movements at high speeds. This allows the operator to produce batches of parts with stable precision and improved surface quality without reducing production rates.
The print module supports a hotend volumetric flow rate of up to 90 mm³/s. Thanks to this, composite materials and engineering plastics melt completely even at a print speed of 1,100 mm/s. This ensures reliable layer adhesion and mechanical strength of finished products.
The independent dual extruder (IDEX) system allows working in several modes. The operator can print complex geometry with soluble supports. A mirror duplication mode is also available for the simultaneous production of two symmetrical parts, doubling output.
Design and equipment
The equipment chamber offers a workspace of 800×650×650 mm for monolithic printing of large objects. Three-layer thermal insulation and active heating up to 80 °C create an optimal environment for shrinkage materials, such as ABS or polycarbonate. This reduces the risk of delamination during long sessions.
Levelling of the massive platform is performed using eddy currents. A high-frequency electromagnetic sensor scans the bed surface with an accuracy of 0.001 mm in 60 seconds. The absence of physical contact prevents sensor wear and guarantees ideal first-layer adhesion even for large models.
Software and control
Printer fleet management is carried out via an integrated remote monitoring system. The administrator can distribute G-code files among multiple devices. They can control the temperature, speed, and filament flow in real time. They can also make online adjustments via the built-in camera.
Applications
Thanks to its high daily productivity and geometric dimensional stability, the 3D printer successfully meets the needs for manufacturing functional parts and prototypes.
Wide compatibility with high-temperature filaments makes it a versatile tool for various industries.
- Automotive industry: printing functional prototypes of interior parts with high strength thanks to PA-CF composites and deformation resistance.
- Medical equipment: rapid production of device housings with an accuracy of ±0.05 mm for seamless assembly of electronic and mechanical components.
- Household appliance manufacturing: creating test samples for assembly validation before launching a full-fledged serial line.
- 3D printing services: parallel fulfilment of orders for parts of various form factors with remote control of the entire printer farm.
Compatible accessories and materials
The equipment configuration supports integration with external purification systems and operation with a wide range of engineering polymers.
- Air filtration system: full compatibility with the AIR-200 external module for purifying the working environment of volatile compounds during composite printing.
- Engineering polymers: support for high-temperature filaments, such as UltraPA-CF, PPS-CF, PC-CF, and standard ABS and ASA.
- Nozzles of various diameters: possibility to install 0.3, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mm nozzles to optimise speed or surface detailing.
