The FastForm FF-M220H SLM 3D printer is an industrial selective laser melting system for metal powders. Two lasers operate simultaneously, ensuring stable part formation quality within an industrial build volume. The system supports a wide range of metal alloys — from stainless steel to titanium and nickel superalloys. Its compact dimensions allow the equipment to be deployed in a laboratory, workshop, or small-batch production facility.
| Parameter | Your benefit |
|---|---|
| Build volume: 220 × 140 × 100 mm | Allows printing tall parts and several small products with the FastForm FF-M220H SLM 3D printer in a single build cycle. |
| Two 500 W lasers: 2 × 500 W | Parallel laser operation speeds up part processing and shortens the overall production cycle time. |
| Print layer thickness: 30-60 μm | Adjustable layer thickness allows balancing print speed against part surface accuracy. |
| Filter service life: 30000 hours | A long service life reduces the frequency of filter replacement and cuts production line downtime. |
- Bidirectional powder recoating: the FastForm FF-M220H's flexible recoater blade applies each powder layer in both directions of movement, reducing layer formation time.
- Quick-release magnetic base: magnetic fixing of the build plate speeds up removal of finished parts and preparation for the next print cycle.
- Nitrogen-argon protective atmosphere: inert gas in the build chamber prevents oxidation of titanium and nickel alloys during melting.
- Plate heating up to 200 °C: preheating reduces residual stresses in the part and expands the range of alloys suitable for printing.
Operating principle of the SLM FastForm FF-M220H
The FastForm FF-M220H SLM 3D printer forms metal parts layer by layer from metal powder using selective laser melting. The laser beam fuses powder particles into a dense metal structure directly according to the part's digital model. This approach makes it possible to produce parts with complex internal geometry without additional machining.
Dual-beam laser system
The system builds parts using two lasers, each with a power of 500 W. Each laser provides a build rate of 10 to 25 cm³/h, speeding up processing of large part batches. The total rated power of the unit is 2.5 kW, taking into account additional heating and control systems.

Scanning and positioning system
The accuracy of part formation depends on the laser beam scanning system. Scanner repeatability does not exceed 2 μrad, and positioning linearity reaches 99.9%. A scanning speed of up to 10 m/s reduces the processing time of each layer without loss of contour accuracy. The laser spot size, from 50 μm to 80 μm, determines the minimum part thickness the system can reproduce.

Design and equipment deployment
A build volume of 220 × 140 × 100 mm allows tall parts and complex geometric shapes to be formed within a single build cycle. The flexible recoater blade applies powder in both directions of movement, reducing the formation time of each layer. The build plate is secured by a quick-release magnetic mechanism, which speeds up removal of finished parts after printing is complete. The unit weighs 500 kg.

Compact placement
The unit runs on a 220 V AC mains supply and has dimensions of 1150 × 750 × 1800 mm. These parameters allow the equipment to be placed in a laboratory, workshop, or small-batch production area without the need for separate major facility preparation.

Build plate heating
Optional build plate heating up to 200 °C reduces residual stresses in the part during cooling. This temperature control is important when processing refractory alloys and alloys prone to deformation.

Print materials and protective atmosphere
The system supports a wide range of metal materials. These include stainless steel, tool steel, titanium alloys, and commercially pure titanium. Nickel superalloys, aluminium and copper alloys, tungsten alloys, high-entropy alloys, and other metals are also supported. During melting, the build chamber is filled with nitrogen or argon, which prevents oxidation of reactive metals such as titanium and aluminium.

Print control software
The printing process is controlled through the FastLayer, AM BUILD, and AM MIND software suite. FastLayer prepares the digital model of the part for printing and calculates the layer parameters. AM BUILD controls the part build process on the printer itself. AM MIND is responsible for monitoring and analysing the production process parameters.
Filtration and process safety
The permanent ventilation system filter is rated for at least 30000 hours of operation. This service life reduces the frequency of filter element replacement and lowers the amount of scheduled maintenance required. Fewer maintenance stops increase the overall productivity of the production line.

Applications
- Industrial prototyping: rapid production of functional metal prototypes on the FastForm FF-M220H SLM 3D printer shortens the development cycle. This makes it possible to verify a part's design before launching serial production.
- Tooling and mould inserts: the system prints tool steel inserts with conformal cooling channels, eliminating the need for special moulds or complex machining.
- Precision industrial components: small-batch production of parts with complex internal geometry supports flexible manufacturing and rapid design changes between batches.
- Research and training: broad metal alloy compatibility and adjustable layer thickness of 30-60 μm create a platform for materials research and technical training.
- Dental manufacturing: printing with cobalt-chrome alloy enables production of 300 crowns in 5 hours. Printing 30 frameworks in 6 hours within a single production cycle is also possible.
Compatible print materials
The FastForm FF-M220H SLM 3D printer is compatible with a wide range of metal powders for industrial production.
- Steels: stainless steel and tool steel.
- Titanium alloys: commercially pure titanium and titanium alloys.
- Nickel and cobalt alloys: nickel superalloys and cobalt-chrome alloy.
- Non-ferrous and refractory alloys: aluminium, copper, tungsten, and high-entropy alloys.
