Creality Pika — a handheld 3D scanner in a smartphone-style body that digitises a worn tool part, a figurine or a portrait. Laser mode reproduces fine contours, while structured light captures large objects even outdoors. You point the scanner at the object as you would a smartphone when taking a photo, and the AI functions on a PC take the scan to a finished model.

Key features and benefits

  • Accuracy in laser mode: up to 0.03 mm — Seven parallel blue lasers capture fine contours, so a copy of a small part follows its shape faithfully.
  • Frame rate on PC (lasers): up to 110 FPS — Capture stays smooth as you move the scanner around the object.
  • Object size: from 10 to 2000 mm — Laser mode handles miniatures, while structured light handles large objects, from a coin to a full-length figure.
  • Removable NIR filter: 2 pcs — The filter reduces the effect of bright light in structured light mode, so you can scan outdoors.
  • Batteries: 2 × 3350 mAh — One is in use while the other waits as a spare; one lasts up to 90 min.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6 and USB 3.0 — The phone and PC connect via Wi-Fi 6, and the PC can also connect by cable, so the scanner works both on the go and at a desk.

Creality Pika has been officially unveiled by the manufacturer.

Presentation: scanner launch

Creality Pika: a 3D scanner in a smartphone form factor

This device brings 3D scanning closer to everyday creative work: you point it at an object as you would a smartphone when taking a photo. On the back is a row of three round modules.

A girl in a shiny green shirt and a headband holds a slim black device with three round modules on the back panel up to her face, with the slogan “Scan Like You Shoot” beside her.
Pika in a smartphone format: Scanning with the Creality Pika is as easy as taking a photo: you point the compact portable scanner at an object as you would a smartphone.

Everything you need is already in the body: a touchscreen, two swappable batteries and three connection modes. Two light sources, laser and structured light, cover both small and large objects.

A collection of small photos showing people holding a compact scanner with blue laser emitters, alongside the device screen, a swappable battery and examples of 3D visualisation, including a butterfly.
Key features of the scanner: A compact body, several connection modes, dual illumination, swappable batteries and AI processing in the Creality Pika handheld 3D scanner.

The scanner goes to the object

The body with two batteries weighs 260 g and fits in the palm of your hand.

An open palm balances a small dark grey device with a touchscreen on a finger; the screen shows a blue 3D model of a figurine against a blue sky.
A lightweight handheld 3D scanner on a fingertip: The compact Creality Pika balances on the tip of a finger, underlining its low weight and portability.

Its dimensions of 100 × 60 × 35 mm let you carry the device in a pocket or a bag. You do not need to take the object to the scanner — the scanner goes to the object.

Two photographs: a hand lowers a small black device with a Creality logo and round lenses into the pocket of a blue shirt, and in the second a girl puts it into a pink bag.
Scanner portability: The compact dark Creality Pika 3D scanner slips easily into a shirt breast pocket and a woman’s handbag, so it is convenient to carry.

No protective case is included. This is a precision optical device, so it is worth wearing the supplied strap on your wrist.

Touchscreen: control in your hand

The screen handles scan settings, shows the scanner status and lets you control the device right in your hand.

Three hands hold a compact black device with a display: the first screen shows a scan start button, the second a settings menu, and the third a colour 3D model of a hamster.
Scanner touchscreen: On the built-in touchscreen you start scanning, review settings and view the 3D model.

The display is a 3-inch HD panel with a peak brightness of 500 nit. There is one nuance: in wired mode the live preview is shown by the software on the computer, not on the scanner screen.

A woman’s hand with a light manicure holds a compact black device whose screen shows a bright blue and orange parrot, with a blurred red parrot and a sofa in the background.
Object preview on the screen: The scanner’s built-in touchscreen shows a colour image of a parrot, so a preview is available right while you work.

Connection mode — choose where you work

The scanner only works paired with a phone or a PC: there is no standalone mode, and one device connects at a time. So the connection mode determines where exactly you work.

Three illustrations of a compact dark handheld scanner: next to a smartphone and a tablet with a Wi-Fi icon, beside a laptop with Wi-Fi, and beside a laptop connected by a blue cable.
Scanner connection modes: The scanner connects to a phone or tablet and to a PC via Wi-Fi, and to a PC by cable; markerless laser scanning is available only in wired mode.
  • Wireless mobile: built-in Wi-Fi 6 connects the phone to the scanner directly — for working outdoors and for body scanning.
  • Wireless with a PC: Wi-Fi 6 without a cable; keep the scanner within 3 m of the computer.
  • Wired with a PC: a stable connection and the full set of functions; markerless laser scanning is available only here.

Markerless laser: with a cable only

Markerless laser scanning shortens preparation: capturing the object starts faster. There is one condition — this mode is available only with a wired connection to a PC. Without a cable, the lasers will need markers.

A man in a blue shirt holds a black handheld scanner with a cable, while blue laser lines fall on a small object on a dark table in front of him.
Wired scanning via a PC: A handheld 3D scanner connected to a computer by cable scans an object on a table with blue laser lines; this mode is available only with a wired connection.

Post-processing: AI takes the scan to a model

The AI functions of CrealityScan are currently available only on a PC. AI Retexturing applies textures from phone or DSLR photos to the model, after which colours become richer and details sharper.

Two identical images of an oil painting of sunflowers in a white vase on a yellow background: the left one is duller and softer, the right one richer, with more distinct brushstrokes.
Comparison of colour and detail quality: Two versions of a painting of sunflowers in a vase: the right one is brighter and sharper than the left, with richer colour and more distinct texture.

AI Body Completion builds a full body model from a face scan and body photos: a face scan and one photo produce a 3D avatar. According to the manufacturer, modelling efficiency increases by up to 10×, and a full model can be obtained in as little as 10 s.

Three steps from left to right: a 3D face scan, plus an uploaded photo of a person in a suit on a night street, and an arrow to a full-length blue 3D model of a figure.
Creating a 3D avatar from a photo: With the help of AI, a face scan and one clear photo are turned into a full 3D body model.

AI Hole Filling finds gaps in an incomplete scan and fills them.

Two blue 3D models of an elephant in steampunk armour: on the left, yellow areas are visible on the trunk and front leg, while on the right the surface is solid.
Elephant scan comparison: Two 3D scans of a mechanical elephant figurine: on the left, a model with yellow gaps in the mesh; on the right, the same model without gaps.

Speed and bright light

On a PC, laser mode delivers up to 110 FPS, while NIR structured light mode delivers up to 30 FPS. On a phone, this is up to 40 FPS and up to 20 FPS respectively. In NIR mode, a person can be scanned in a single frame.

A girl in a red top, seen from behind, points a small scanner with a green human silhouette on its screen at a girl with short silver hair in a white suit against a blue background.
Portrait 3D scanning in NIR mode: The compact handheld scanner captures a person in a futuristic costume in a single frame in infrared NIR mode.

Outdoors, laser mode works up to 110,000 lux, and NIR with the removable filter works up to 80,000 lux.

A smiling woman in a red top holds a small black handheld scanner in both hands, and on the right is a close-up of it with a ring hovering over a round window.
Handheld scanning and the removable lens ring: The Creality Pika in hand during outdoor shooting and a close-up of the device with a removable ring over one of the two lenses.

Laser mode concentrates energy, so black and dark parts are scanned without sprays.

A woman in a white shirt sits at a blue table and aims a small black scanner at a deer statuette against a background of blinds.
Scanning a deer figurine: A compact black handheld scanner with two round lenses is aimed at a black deer figurine: this is how small objects are scanned without sprays.

Power: a spare second battery

Two quick-swap 3350 mAh batteries are included: one is in use, the other is a spare. One lasts up to 90 min. Charging in the device takes about 1.5 h, and separately about 2.5 h.

A dark scanner body without its back cover: inside, two modules with cameras and lighting are visible, a blue battery with a lightning symbol lies below, and an identical one stands beside it.
Swappable battery in the scanner compartment: The open scanner compartment with a cylindrical battery inserted, featuring a USB-C port, and a spare battery beside it, so power can be swapped quickly.

Dual light, range and accuracy

Seven parallel blue lasers capture fine details and complex contours of small objects. NIR structured light supports body scanning and 24-bit full-colour capture.

Accuracy is up to 0.03 mm in laser mode and up to 0.1 mm in NIR mode (under laboratory conditions). Objects from 10 to 2000 mm can be scanned: from a coin to a full-length figure.

A row of grey 3D models in increasing size: a coin, a parrot with outstretched wings, a blade, a rectangular relief with a mermaid and a figure in armour, with an accuracy of 0.03 mm shown above them.
Range of scanned object sizes: Grey 3D models of a coin, a parrot, a blade, a mermaid relief and a human figure: the scanner covers both small and very large objects with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm.

From scan to finished copy

The data goes through a full cycle: the scanner captures a figurine, the software on a laptop processes the data, and a 3D printer reproduces the copy.

On a blue grid background, arrows in a circle connect a hamster figurine on a stand with a small scanner above it, a laptop with a program, a blue 3D model icon and a printer with a turquoise copy.
From scanning to printing: The full workflow with the scanner: we scan a hamster figurine, process the model in the software on a laptop and reproduce the copy on a 3D printer.

CrealityScan works on phones and PCs, but an iPhone connects only wirelessly. The software exports data in STL and OBJ formats, and PLY and ASC are also supported. There is no direct export to STP, but STL and OBJ open in modelling software.

Five screens of different sizes show a hamster model: on the monitor and laptop it is a blue mesh, while on the tablet, smartphone and black touchscreen device it has an orange texture.
Scanning software on different screens: The 3D scanning software works on a monitor, laptop, tablet, smartphone and the touchscreen of the compact device; the model is displayed as a mesh or with a texture.

Applications

The scanner covers several creative and practical scenarios: from tool repair to printing copies.

Six photos of people holding or working with a compact scanner: a father and son at a laptop, girls capturing a bas-relief and a bright parrot, a man scanning a robot figure, a cosplayer in a white costume and a craftsman working on a tool.
Applications of the 3D scanner: Six use scenarios for the Creality Pika handheld 3D scanner: gear customisation, art creation, personalised items, figurines, props and tool repair.
  • Tool repair and restoration: digitise a worn part and print a copy of it; laser mode captures fine contours with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm.
  • Gear customisation: a scan of an existing item provides the basis for an accessory that fits its shape; STL or OBJ open in modelling software.
  • Characters and figures: NIR mode captures a person in a single frame together with colour, and AI Body Completion on a PC builds out the full body model from a face scan and a photo — according to the manufacturer, in as little as 10 s.
  • Props and art projects: real shapes become 3D data for modelling; AI Retexturing on a PC adds textures from phone or DSLR photos.
  • Printing copies on a 3D printer: a scan of a real object gives a model that can be modified and printed; the wireless modes keep the workspace free of cables.

Compatible accessories and components

  • Battery: an original Creality battery is recommended for the Creality Pika; third-party ones may fail to power the device or reduce performance. A power adapter is not included; 5 V 3 A is recommended.
  • NIR filter: removable, used in structured light mode; 2 pcs are included.
  • Laser mode: a turntable and markers with marker towers are recommended for objects of 10–20 cm; without a wired connection to a PC, the lasers need markers.
