Bambu Lab A1 Combo — a desktop 3D printer for automated multicolour printing, featuring the AMS lite system and speeds up to 500 mm/s. The equipment synchronises four filament spools, eliminating the need for manual material changes during the creation of complex parts. Built-in accelerometers and sensors automatically calibrate the bed level, Z-axis offset, and resonance before every print.

Key features and benefits

  • Print volume: 256 × 256 × 256 mm³ — such a build volume allows the production of massive items without the need for segmenting them.
  • Speed: up to 500 mm/s — the low resistance of the linear rails ensures stable model geometry at high accelerations.
  • Multicolour system: 4 feed channels — automatic filament recognition via RFID instantly adapts the temperature parameters in the slicer.
  • Acoustic load: 48 dB — the vibration compensation algorithm smooths out stepper motor operation, creating a comfortable indoor environment.
  • Fully automatic calibration: hotend sensors measure nozzle deflection and pressure, eliminating the need for manual adjustment.
  • Workflow monitoring: the integrated camera transmits a real-time video stream for remote quality control.
  • Material backup: the module automatically switches to an identical spool upon completion of the current one, preventing print stops.

Material feed system

The automatic AMS lite system provides parallel control of four filament spools. Spring-loaded holders securely fix non-standard spools, including those made of cardboard. RFID tag reading technology automatically transmits the Bambu Lab material configuration to the slicer.

Mechanics and extrusion control

The printer's kinematics are based on all-metal linear rails. Built-in high-frequency accelerometers record the resonance of the printhead, sending data for micro-correction of movements. An eddy current sensor analyses the melt pressure in the nozzle, maintaining extrusion thickness at the corners.

Noise reduction and maintenance

The device minimises sound pressure thanks to an active noise cancellation function. Electronic algorithms compensate for high-frequency acoustic waves from stepper motor operation. The background sound level does not exceed 48 dB during standard tasks.

The flexible PEI-coated build plate holds the part securely at bed temperatures up to 100 °C. After cooling, the part is easily detached without special tools by simply bending the plate.

Network connectivity and security

The equipment supports operation in an isolated LAN-only mode. This format restricts data transmission to cloud services, protecting production privacy. The system meets the requirements of the European ETSI EN 303 645 security standard.

Users can remotely monitor the process via the proprietary app. A camera with timelapse support transmits telemetry and images to a mobile device.

Areas of application

The printer's workspace is designed for creating large functional parts. The generous build volume minimises the number of glued joints in massive objects.

The high precision of the mechanics ensures the reproduction of complex geometric surfaces without visible layering. The ability to combine colours allows for the production of decorative elements without a painting stage.

  • Functional prototyping: creates parts from PETG and TPU for testing mechanism ergonomics.
  • Architectural modelling: prints detailed facades using PVA support materials for complex overhangs.
  • Serial production: ensures uninterrupted printing of electronics batches thanks to the material backup switching function.
  • Educational institutions: minimises the risk of interference in the workflow through a closed loop of automatic parameter configuration.
