New

The Ortur R2 laser engraver with the LR4-1A 1.3 W IR (1064 nm) module is a desktop device for marking metals and dark acrylic without coating. The infrared beam in this wavelength range is absorbed directly by metal surfaces — no chemical surface preparation is required. The A4 engraving format and high throughput enable batch processing of small production runs. The device is supplied fully assembled and is controlled via a mobile app or an offline screen.

Parameter Your Advantage
Wavelength: 1064 nm (IR) The infrared beam is absorbed by most metals and dark plastics without a special coating — direct processing with no chemical surface preparation required.
Spot size: 0.03 × 0.03 mm The finest detail is reproduced sharply even under magnification — suitable for small inscriptions and intricate ornaments.
Maximum engraving speed: 20,000 mm/min High speed reduces cycle time during batch processing of small production runs and minimises downtime between jobs.
Engraving area: 300 × 210 mm The A4 format covers most typical workpieces: badges, nameplates, decorative panels, and jewellery.
  • Metal engraving without coating: the 1064 nm IR laser marks aluminium, stainless steel, and brass directly — no chemical surface preparation required.
  • Spot size 0.03 × 0.03 mm: the ultra-fine point renders details that remain sharp even under significant magnification.
  • HD camera and auto-alignment: the built-in camera automatically detects the material's coordinates and aligns the job without manual adjustment.
  • Ready to use: the device is supplied fully assembled — no tools or configuration are needed from unboxing to the first engraving.
  • Laser safety class 1: the enclosed enclosure design prevents direct exposure of the operator under normal operating conditions.

Ortur R2: IR Laser Technology and Operating Principle

The LR4-1A 1.3 W module emits at a wavelength of 1064 nm — a range in which most metals and dark polymers absorb energy directly. Unlike visible lasers, the IR beam does not require a special coating to be applied to a metal surface prior to processing. Fixed focus provides a spot size of 0.03 × 0.03 mm at a focal distance of 40 mm from the material surface.

An optical power of 1.3 W is sufficient for clear marking of metals and cutting dark acrylic. The laser module has a service life of over 10,000 hours, corresponding to several years of intensive use.

Mobile App and Offline Screen

The device is controlled via a mobile app or a built-in flip screen that can be adjusted to any angle — similarly to a laptop lid. The app supports text input in multiple languages with over 19 artistic fonts, one-tap photo import for engraving, and a sketch mode: drawing with a finger or stylus directly within the interface.

The smart presets feature automatically selects laser parameters once a material and power level have been chosen — no manual configuration is required. The device stores the eight most recent jobs and supports repeat operation from any device on the network.

HD Camera and Batch Production

The built-in HD camera automatically detects the material's coordinates on the work surface and aligns the job without manual adjustment. During batch processing, the operator simply places the next batch of workpieces — the machine locates their position independently and immediately begins the cycle.

The quick-repeat feature stores the eight most recent jobs in the device's memory. Batch engraving can be started with a single tap on the flip screen — no connection to a computer or smartphone is required.

Safety and Design

The enclosed enclosure design complies with laser safety class 1 — direct and reflected radiation does not reach the operator under normal operating conditions. The protection system includes six levels: active position protection, exposure duration limiting, laser beam protective shield, anti-tilt protection, microcontroller watchdog, and connection monitoring via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB.

Self-diagnostics scans the device's status before each cycle and signals any anomaly before operation begins. The noise level is 60 dB, equivalent to the background noise of an air conditioner. The enclosure is made predominantly from aluminium alloy (99% of the main structure); the frame is 70% aluminium and 15% stainless steel.

Software and Connectivity

The device supports LaserGRBL (free software for Windows) and LightBurn (paid, for Mac and Linux). Connectivity is via Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, USB, or SD card; FTP and WebUI control are also available. Supported file formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, SVG, and others.

Applications

The 1064 nm IR laser is absorbed directly by metals and dark polymers, making this engraver suitable for a wide range of manufacturing and creative applications.

  • Metal workpiece marking — the IR beam is absorbed by metals without coating: aluminium, stainless steel, and brass are marked with a permanent engraving directly on the device.
  • Personalised gifts and souvenirs — inscriptions and images on leather, wood, and dark acrylic are applied in a single job from the mobile app, with no reconfiguration required.
  • Small-batch production — the HD camera automatically aligns each new workpiece, and job storage allows the cycle to be repeated without additional setup.
  • Corporate insignia and branded items — engraving logos onto metal badges and nameplates is performed with a spot accuracy of 0.03 × 0.03 mm, reproducing every detail of the logo in full.
  • Decorative finishing — ornaments and textures on dark acrylic and plastic are engraved at speeds of up to 20,000 mm/min, reducing cycle time over large areas.
  • Creative and educational projects — the Ortur app combines hand-drawn sketches with imported photographs, a format well suited to collaborative work or educational workshops.
