Bambu Lab A2L Combo — an FDM printer whose build volume is 105% larger than the 256 mm class. Large parts are printed as a single piece, with no need to cut them into sections. The set includes AMS lite for multicolour and multi-material printing. Adaptive vibration compensation keeps the print clean from the first layer to the last.

Key features and benefits

  • Build volume: 330 × 320 × 325 mm — The model is printed whole, so there are no seams between parts to fit.
  • Max. toolhead speed: 500 mm/s — The extruder's closed-loop servo motor feeds filament steadily even at this speed.
  • Multicolour printing: up to 19 colours — The included AMS lite feeds filament from four spools, and AMS units expand the system.
  • Adaptive vibration compensation: a real-time calibration matrix accounts for the toolhead position and the varying bed load. So tall and heavy models do not lose layer quality.
  • Automatic flow dynamics calibration: before each print the printer measures the actual filament flow, and nozzle wear or moisture are taken into account before the first layer.
  • Backup spool in AMS lite: the printer automatically switches to another spool with the same properties, so printing does not stop when the filament runs out.
Video overview of the Bambu Lab A2L Combo

The Bambu Lab A2L prints large models whole

Large models are usually cut into parts. Here they fit whole. For the Bambu Lab A2L Combo the build volume is 105% larger than in the 256 mm class. A life-size helmet is printed as a single piece, and a batch of 40 fidget toys in one run.

Two platforms side by side with a pixel sword model: on the A1 the red tip protrudes beyond the edge, on the A2L the sword lies entirely within it, and the extra area is highlighted in green.
Print area comparison of the A1 and A2L: The larger build platform of the A2L fits the pixel sword completely, while on the A1 its tip extends beyond the bed.

The massive platform moves with inertia, so vibration is transmitted to the table. Place the printer on a sturdy table or on the floor. Leave 120 mm at the front, 250 mm at the back and 300 mm above.

Modular attachments add cutting and drawing

Printing, cutting and drawing usually require different machines. Once the cutting module is installed, the printer cuts stickers, leather, fabric and paper up to 0.5 mm thick. The Bambu Lab A2L Combo does not include this module: the Cutting Upgrade Kit is purchased separately. The laser module is not supported.

Three black Bambu Lab cutting modules with white top assemblies and different tips at the bottom, the left one with a wider cylindrical holder.
Cutting modules in the set: A cutting module with a black body and a white unit on top complements the A2L Combo set and comes with different working tips.

Large-model stability up to the top layer

The model grows and the resonances change. The bed-slinger design of the Bambu Lab A2L Combo achieves CoreXY stability through software and mechanical vibration damping.

Adaptive vibration compensation

Most printers perform input shaping (resonance suppression) once at the start. Adaptive vibration compensation works in real time. The matrix accounts for the toolhead position and the varying bed load. The resonance model is rebuilt layer by layer. The last layer comes out as clean as the first.

Two identical grey models of a pointed tower side by side: the left one, with the switch off, has wavy layers; the right one, with it on, has smoother ones.
Layer smoothness comparison on a tower model: With the feature enabled, the print layers on the tower model come out smoother and more even than without it.

Granular damper

The software damps only predictable vibrations. The rest is absorbed by two granular dampers — sealed chambers with fine particles that dissipate vibration through micro-collisions. Ripples and "ghosting" lines do not appear over the full print height. The rustle of particles in the gantry is normal.

The transparent top beam of the printer frame with two green areas inside and a white toolhead with a cable on a metal rail.
Top frame beam with highlighted areas: The top frame beam of the A2L has two internal areas marked in green, and the toolhead sits on the linear rail beneath it.

AMS lite feeds colours without manual swaps

A single failed colour change ruins twelve hours of work. The AMS lite included in the Bambu Lab A2L Combo is designed for thousands of consecutive changes without faults.

A parrot figurine with a white crest, blue wings and an orange beak stands on a wet rock by the water.
Multicolour parrot figurine: The parrot figurine combines a white body, blue wings and tail, and an orange beak and feet, demonstrating a multicolour model.

Backup spool

When the current spool runs out, AMS lite automatically switches to another with the same filament properties. Printing is not interrupted. The spools feed the toolhead. To save space, AMS lite can be mounted on top of the gantry, but vibration will increase.

A desktop printer with a small screen on its base prints a yellow model with purple balls, while on the right, on a holder, stand green, yellow and white spools.
Printing from several filament spools: The printer feeds filament of different colours from the side spool holder through tubes to the print head and produces a yellow model.

Spools and filaments

A spring-loaded rotating holder secures the spool by its centre hole, which improves compatibility with cardboard spools. Spools 40 – 68 mm wide with an inner diameter of 53 – 58 mm fit. AMS lite does not support TPE and TPU. Print third-party glass-fibre or carbon-fibre filaments from the external spool holder.

RFID and maintenance

Bambu Lab filaments have an RFID tag, which AMS lite reads to apply the optimal material settings. The tag syncs automatically with Bambu Studio. Filaments from other manufacturers are configured manually. The transparent housing makes diagnostics easier.

Expansion to 19 colours and filament drying

Complex projects need more colours. The 2nd-generation AMS dries filament and stores it airtight. Together with AMS lite, it works in a single queue through a shared buffer system. The Bambu Lab A2L Combo supports up to 4 AMS units and 1 AMS lite — up to 19 colours. An AMS unit takes up one AMS lite channel.

Filament feed options: The printer can receive filament from a compact spool holder or from several modules, each holding multiple spools.

Drying needs a separate power supply. The AMS 2 Pro is connected to an external adapter, and the AMS HT to its own cable: the printer does not power the drying. Multiple AMS units require the first-generation 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter; the second generation is not supported.

Sensors and calibration monitor every print

Failures go unnoticed: the nozzle moves, but the part is no longer growing. Sensors on the extrusion path and the PMSM extruder, acting as a feedback unit, pass data to an algorithm trained by Bambu. It recognises tangling and filament runout. Clumps on the nozzle and air printing are tracked separately. The printer pauses the print. Bambu Handy suggests how to fix the fault.

Three details of the print head labelled for nozzle clumping, filament grinding and air printing: a blue clump on the nozzle, a yellow gear in the feed mechanism, and a nozzle above a blue model.
Print head condition monitoring: The printer's print head is designed to detect plastic clumping on the nozzle, filament grinding in the feed mechanism and air printing.

In the Bambu Lab A2L Combo, Auto Flow Dynamics Calibration is repeated before every print. The system measures how the filament passes through this nozzle with this spool and builds a non-linear model of the path. Nozzle wear and filament moisture are taken into account before the first layer.

Two printed vases with floral relief side by side: on the left, marked A2L, smooth even layers; on the right, rough layers with gaps and unevenness.
Print surface quality comparison: Auto Flow Dynamics Calibration helps the A2L keep a smooth surface and crisp flower relief on the vase even with a worn nozzle and damp filament.

Clean air and quiet operation indoors

The air indoors must be safe. The Bambu Lab A2L Combo is certified to UL 2904 (GREENGUARD), but only with official filaments. Tests with Bambu PLA Basic and PETG Basic confirmed ultra-low emissions.

Home printing with a low-emission certificate: A desktop 3D printer with several filament spools stands in a living room next to multicoloured printed parts, and the badge confirms certification for low chemical emissions.

In Silent Mode the noise level is up to 49 dB. Active motor noise cancellation and precision linear guides reduce noise. In standard mode the peak is about 52 dB according to laboratory data.

Control: cloud, LAN and slicers

Privacy depends on how you connect. Bambu Cloud provides communication between devices, while LAN-only mode keeps everything on the local network. Only 2.4G Wi-Fi is supported. There is no Ethernet. Cybersecurity complies with EU RED Article 3.3(d)(e) and ETSI EN 303 645 V2.1.1:2020.

The printer is connected to a cloud service, a mobile app and a desktop program, as well as to a local network, developer mode, third-party programs and a memory card.
Ways to connect the printer: The printer connects via the cloud to the mobile app and computer programs, via the local network in developer mode to third-party programs, and works with an SD card.

The Bambu Lab A2L Combo is controlled from the touchscreen, the mobile app or the PC app. The main slicer is Bambu Studio. Third-party slicers with standard Gcode, such as Cura, work, but some advanced features are unavailable. Printing starts from a MicroSD card: there is no built-in storage, and a 32 GB card is already installed.

Applications

  • Prototypes of large products: the 330 × 320 × 325 mm volume fits a life-size helmet whole, with no need to cut it into parts and fit the seams.
  • Batches of small products: 40 fidget toys are printed in a single run, and the AMS lite backup spool keeps the printer from stopping when the filament runs out.
  • Model finishing: with the cutting module (the Cutting Upgrade Kit, sold separately), the printer cuts stickers and leather up to 0.5 mm thick. It cuts them from raster and vector images.
  • Multicolour figurines: the Bambu Lab A2L Combo feeds filament from the four spools of AMS lite, and Bambu Lab RFID tags set the material parameters.
