The Bambu Lab P2S Combo is an FDM printer with a fully enclosed chamber, designed for stable printing with engineering and fibre-reinforced materials. The kit includes an AMS 2 Pro unit, which combines multicolour printing and filament drying in a single housing. The PMSM servo extruder and built-in AI camera monitor every layer in real time. The machine combines industrial print volume with intuitive second-generation touchscreen control.

CharacteristicValueWhy it matters
Print volume256 × 256 × 256 mm³Allows large parts to be printed in a single pass without joints.
Maximum PMSM extrusion force8.5 kgEnsures stable feeding of fibre-reinforced filaments at high speeds.
Maximum bed temperature110 °CSupports adhesion of engineering materials prone to warping.
Filament drying in AMS 2 Proup to 65 °C, 30 % faster than sealed heatingKeeps moisture-sensitive materials print-ready without a separate dryer.
  • Second-generation touchscreen: the 5-inch 854×480 display with an updated UI reduces the number of steps needed to start printing and calibration.
  • AI camera with 2 TOPS neural processor: detects spaghetti failures and nozzle clogging before the defect wastes hours of printing.
  • Quick-swap hotend with a single clip: nozzle replacement takes up to 30 seconds without disconnecting wiring, reducing the risk of assembly errors.
  • AMS 2 Pro with active ventilation: dries filament 30 % faster than sealed heating, keeping materials print-ready.

Second-generation touchscreen interface

The Bambu Lab P2S Combo features an upgraded 5-inch touchscreen with 854×480 resolution and a more powerful processor, running on a new second-generation interface. Interaction is smoother, graphics are sharper, and step-by-step instructions are clearer even without a separate manual.

The three printer screens shown below illustrate how the interface distributes functions between AMS status, temperature modes, and diagnostics.

PMSM extruder and real-time clog control

The servo extruder with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) delivers up to 8.5 kg of extrusion force — 70 % more than the previous model. This improves filament feed stability at high flow rates. The proprietary DynaSense architecture reads rotor resistance and position at a frequency of 20 kHz, actively detecting slippage and nozzle clogging in real time.

The internal structure of the unit shows how the motor components ensure precise rotor positioning.

Active flow compensation

A high-frequency eddy current sensor calibrates filament flow dynamics in real time. The printer's algorithms adjust feed rate based on these readings, ensuring uniform extrusion at every layer and every corner of the part.

The indicator on the extruder housing shows the active calibration status and the installed nozzle diameter.

Adaptive airflow system

Cold air for high-quality overhangs

Unlike systems that recirculate heated air, the P2S adaptive system draws cold air directly from outside the chamber. This improves cooling efficiency, allowing confident printing of low-temperature filaments with the door closed — without compromising overhang quality or clogging the nozzle.

The airflow diagram below shows the path of cold air to the heated print bed.

50 °C chamber for engineering materials

The valve-based adaptive airflow system seals heat inside the chamber while filtering internal air through a coconut-shell carbon filter. This allows demanding engineering filaments prone to warping to be printed while keeping the working space air clean and safe.

The long-exposure image below highlights the operation of the cooling fan inside the enclosed chamber.

AI print quality control

The Bambu Lab P2S Combo uses computer vision based on a 2 TOPS neural processor, which detects typical print defects — spaghetti failures and plastic buildup on the nozzle. The system also checks starting settings before each job, ensuring a safe and precise print start.

The scan of the printed part's surface below demonstrates how the system matches model geometry with the expected result.

Quick nozzle swap in 30 seconds

The quick-swap hotend design with a single locking clip allows the entire nozzle and heatsink assembly to be removed without disconnecting the wiring. This significantly reduces nozzle replacement time and eliminates the risk of wiring connection errors.

The removable nozzle assembly with size marking is shown in the image below.

Video monitoring and time-lapses

Improved lighting significantly enhances clarity of real-time video and time-lapses. Combined with a high-frequency camera and dual-band Wi-Fi, this allows convenient remote print monitoring and well-lit time-lapses.

The example of a printed part below shows the result captured by the printer's camera during printing.

Hardened steel for fibre-reinforced materials

The P2S extrusion system and nozzle are made of hardened steel, providing wear resistance. The design is built for long-term stable printing with high-performance materials reinforced with glass fibre or carbon fibre.

AMS 2 Pro: multicolour printing and filament drying

The AMS 2 Pro is the most reliable multicolour printing system in the line-up, enhanced with updated housing ergonomics. The key new feature is an active ventilation system that dries filament 30 % faster than sealed heating, maintaining low humidity for quality storage and stable printing.

The kit below shows the P2S printer with four filament spools loaded into the AMS 2 Pro, along with the control panel.

An electromagnetic ventilation valve performs automatic venting during drying and hermetic sealing, preserving filament quality for weeks. The comparison below shows the difference in adhesion on a honeycomb sample under dry and humid conditions.

Humidity effect: samples show better bed adhesion with dry filament compared to moist filament

The PMSM-based feed motor speeds up filament feeding by 60 %, saving an average of 10 minutes for every 100 colour changes. The internal cutaway below demonstrates airflow circulation paths during drying.

Minor design improvements

The built-in 2-in-1 buffer (supplied with the AMS) allows switching between the AMS and external filament spools for maximum print setup flexibility.

The flat bed base simplifies removal of plastic residue, keeping the printer clean. The comparison below shows the difference in filament scrap accumulation between the P2S and the previous P1S model.

Built-in lifting handles simplify safe transport, protecting hands while carrying the printer.

Applications

The Bambu Lab P2S Combo is suited for tasks requiring an enclosed chamber, precise reinforced filament feeding, and multicolour printing without manual intervention.

An example of a complex multicolour object — a steering wheel with several control dials — is shown below.
