Revopoint POP 4 Premium Edition — a 3D scanner for measuring metal automotive parts. The scanner offers five modes — from deep holes to bright sunlight. In fast mode, shiny and dark surfaces do not need scanning spray. The battery grip included in the Premium kit lets you work on site without a power socket.
Key features and benefits
- Volumetric accuracy: 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm × L (m) — The additional error is 0.05 mm for every metre of object length, so large parts are measured predictably.
- Laser scanning speed: up to 105 fps — For the fastest pass, choose a PC with an NVIDIA graphics card; on a CPU the speed is 60 fps.
- Outdoor illumination: up to 100 000 lux — VCSEL mode works reliably in direct sunlight, so scanning is not limited to indoors.
- Deep holes: the mode with 1 blue laser line captures holes and slots without the need for a separate scanner.
- Large objects without markers: VCSEL mode captures large workpieces and people by geometric features, without markers.
- Battery life: the 5500 mAh battery grip provides approximately 4 h of operation without a power socket.
Revopoint POP 4 Premium: five scanning modes
Different surfaces need different light sources. The Revopoint POP 4 Premium Edition has a blue multi-line laser. It has two more sources — near-infrared full-field structured light and VCSEL. They make up the five modes, so the surface type determines the mode, not the device.

Fast mode
The mode with 30 cross lines captures shiny and dark surfaces without spray. The data rate reaches 2 000 000 points/s, which fills the frame quickly. Markers are mandatory here. For transparent and mirrored surfaces, spray is still required.
Deep holes
A single blue laser line is designed for deep holes and slots. It also captures complex surfaces. There is no need to change the scanner for such features — just switch the mode.
VCSEL mode
VCSEL mode operates at up to 30 fps. It captures large workpieces and people without markers. It uses feature tracking. Single-frame accuracy is up to 0.10 mm at a distance of 300–500 mm and up to 0.20 mm at a distance of 500–800 mm.
Full-Field HD mode
Full-Field HD mode captures bodies and faces without markers at up to 5 000 000 points/s. The working distance is 200–500 mm, and single-frame accuracy is up to 0.08 mm. Smooth objects still require markers.
Hybrid HD mode
Hybrid HD combines Full-Field and VCSEL. The mode quickly records a point cloud with high accuracy at a distance of 200–500 mm. It is suitable for fast, high-quality surface modelling.
AI segmentation simplifies post-processing
Selecting an object manually complicates post-processing. Segmentation (separating the required object from the background) works in real time. AI technology also tracks the object during scanning. Post-processing becomes simpler.
Accuracy depends on object length
Measurement error grows with the size of the part. In the volumetric accuracy formula, L is the object length in metres. The formula applies in multi-line laser mode. Single-frame accuracy is up to 0.03 mm for the laser and up to 0.08 mm for full-field. The point distance after fusion is up to 0.05 mm. These are laboratory values. Actual results depend on operating conditions.
3DGS: photorealistic models instead of a mesh
Models for visualisation need not only shape but also surface appearance. The patented 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) technology converts the point cloud and RGB data into 1:1 Gaussian models. The scale of the model physically corresponds to the object. In Revo Scan 6, high-resolution photos produce more detailed Gaussian models. Export in .splat format is suitable for 3D printing and animation.

Outdoor scanning in strong light
Direct sunlight limits the choice of scanning mode. VCSEL mode is designed for illumination of up to 100 000 lux thanks to its high-intensity projector. The multi-line laser works up to 50 000 lux. Above this threshold, a magnetic external filter is recommended. With it, the laser captures detailed scans up to 100 000 lux. The filter attaches magnetically. It is included in the Premium kit.
Power and standalone operation
The scanner has no built-in battery. Power is supplied via a USB Type-C — Type-C cable from an external source, DC 5 V, 2 A. The Battery Grip replaces a fixed power source during field work. It is included in the Premium kit together with a power cable.
Working distance from near to far
The size of the part determines the distance from which it is convenient to scan it. The blue laser captures from a distance of 170 mm for detailed scans. VCSEL lets you step back up to 800 mm for fast scanning of large areas. The ranges depend on the mode.
- Multi-line laser: 170 – 370 mm; capture area — 103 × 116 mm at a distance of 170 mm and 291 × 253 mm at a distance of 370 mm.
- Full-Field HD and Hybrid HD: 200 – 500 mm; capture area at a distance of 500 mm — 352 × 341 mm.
- VCSEL: 300 – 800 mm; capture area at a distance of 800 mm — 492 × 546 mm.
The minimum scanning volume is 10 × 10 × 10 mm. The maximum is 2 × 2 × 2 m.
Smartphone control via Wi-Fi
Multi-line mode does not work standalone on a phone. For it, the scanner is connected to a PC via Wi-Fi. The image is streamed to the phone in real time via Revo Mirror. Full-field and VCSEL modes can be used standalone with a phone. Connection is via Wi-Fi 6. The scanner also has Bluetooth 4.1.
Colour scanning
Colour models require data about surface colour. The RGB camera with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels records colour during scanning. It is intended for works of art and prototypes. Separately, the camera captures cultural artefacts. Colour also works as a tracking method.
Software: from scan to CAD and inspection
Several separate programs complicate the workflow. The scanner and Revo Design work as a single ecosystem from scan to CAD. Revo Measure adds inspection to it. Revo Scan 6 is supplied free of charge, and models can be scanned and edited offline.

Files and export
The scanner exports eight formats, including STL and 3MF. The Splat format is intended for 3DGS models. Merging and importing models also work offline.
System requirements
Processing speed depends on the PC configuration. The specification sets minimum and recommended requirements for Windows and macOS.
- Windows, minimum: Intel i7 13th generation or AMD Ryzen 7 5800; RAM ≥ 16 GB; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU (8 GB).

Calibration
Before scanning, it is recommended to check accuracy using the calibration board. Calibration is performed by the user, and the check is launched in Revo Scan 6.
Premium kit for work on site
For field work you need to have everything necessary to hand. The Revopoint POP 4 Premium Edition supplements the scanner with a tripod and a mini turntable. A case is provided for carrying. The battery grip and magnetic filters are included in the same package. The scanner itself weighs 286 g and measures 160 × 30 × 72 mm.

Laser safety
Optical light sources require compliance with safety rules. The scanner complies with Class 1 for lasers. Avoid direct eye exposure. Some products have flashing lights, which may be unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
