New

Revopoint POP 4 Standard Edition is a 3D scanner for digitising parts and people, using a laser and structured light. A single scanner switches modes to suit the surface, instead of needing a separate device for each task. Flat, shiny and dark surfaces can be scanned without scanning spray. Transparent and mirrored objects still require spray.

Key features and benefits

  • Volumetric accuracy: 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm × L (m) — The formula applies in multi-line laser mode, so you can estimate the error before you start scanning.
  • Scanning speed: up to 105 fps (NVIDIA GPU) — This frame rate comes from the multi-line laser; with CPU processing, the speed is up to 60 fps.
  • Operation in direct sunlight: up to 100,000 lx — VCSEL mode lets you scan outdoors without a separate filter.
  • Five scanning modes: choose the mode to suit the task, from deep holes to large workpieces and people. Switching takes place within a single device.
  • Up to 4 hours of battery life: the optional Battery Grip with a 5500 mAh battery provides about 4 hours of continuous operation. The scanner itself has no built-in battery.
  • 3D Gaussian Splatting: turns point cloud and RGB data into photorealistic 1:1 models. The result is exported in .splat format.

Revopoint POP 4: five modes for different surfaces

Different surfaces call for different capture methods. The Revopoint POP 4 Standard Edition scanner has a blue multi-line laser. Full-field structured light and VCSEL structured light work separately. You choose the mode to suit the object rather than changing the device.

Scanning different objects: The handheld 3D scanner captures the shape of a metal housing, a person, a carved vase and a bust, so it suits objects of different types and sizes.

Multi-line laser

30 blue crossed lines capture shiny and dark surfaces without scanning spray. Performance reaches 2,000,000 points/s and 105 fps. Markers are mandatory here. Place the markers irregularly so that at least five are visible in every frame.

Deep hole mode

This mode uses a single blue laser line. It captures deep holes and grooves. Complex surfaces are also possible.

VCSEL mode

VCSEL mode runs at up to 30 fps. Large workpieces and people can be scanned without markers. The working distance is 300 – 800 mm. Single-frame accuracy is 0.10 mm at 300–500 mm and 0.20 mm at 500–800 mm.

Full-Field HD and Hybrid HD

Full-Field HD captures people and objects without markers at up to 5,000,000 points/s. The frame rate is up to 20 fps, and single-frame accuracy is 0.08 mm. Markers are still needed for objects without distinctive relief features. Hybrid HD combines Full-Field and VCSEL. The result is fast, accurate point cloud capture for surface modelling. The working distance for both modes is 200 – 500 mm.

AI segmentation reduces post-processing

Backgrounds and extra objects make model preparation harder. Real-time AI segmentation isolates the required object and tracks it. This simplifies post-processing. Object features and colour are available for tracking. Markers and global markers are also supported.

Accuracy that depends on object length

The error on large parts depends on their length. Volumetric accuracy in multi-line laser mode is 0.03 mm + 0.05 mm × L, where L is the object length in metres. The point spacing after merging is up to 0.05 mm. The values were obtained under controlled laboratory conditions; real-world results may vary.

Gaussian Splatting: a photorealistic 1:1 model

A photorealistic model needs more than a point cloud. The patented 3D Gaussian Splatting technology turns the point cloud and RGB data into 1:1 models. High-resolution photographs produce more detailed Gaussian models in Revo Scan 6. Export is in .splat format. It is suitable for 3D printing and animation. It is also used in product design.

Operation in direct sunlight

An outdoor object cannot always be moved indoors. The mode determines the illuminance limit. The VCSEL projector works at illuminance of up to 100,000 lx. The multi-line laser without a filter is limited to 50,000 lx. The magnetic external filter raises this limit to 100,000 lx. This makes it possible to perform detailed blue-laser scans outdoors.

Battery life with the optional Battery Grip

Fieldwork requires power without a wall socket. The scanner has no built-in battery. Power is supplied through a USB-C to USB-C cable from an external source, DC 5 V, 2 A. The optional Battery Grip with a 5500 mAh battery provides about 4 hours of operation under normal conditions. The Battery Grip is not included in the standard kit.

Coverage from close to long range

The size of the object determines the working distance. Detailed blue-laser scans are performed from a distance of 170 mm. In VCSEL mode, the scanner can be moved back to 800 mm for large areas. The single capture area grows from 103 × 116 mm at 170 mm to 492 × 546 mm at 800 mm. The scanning volume ranges from 10 × 10 × 10 mm to 2 × 2 × 2 m.

Wireless control from a smartphone

Not every task is carried out next to a PC. The scanner connects to the smartphone's Wi-Fi, and Full-Field HD and VCSEL modes work with the phone standalone. The multi-line laser does not work this way. It is processed by the PC, while Revo Mirror streams the image to the phone in real time. Android 11 or later is required. iOS support is marked as "coming soon" in the compatibility table.

Accurate colour capture

Artworks and prototypes need faithful colour. The RGB camera with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels captures colour scans. Typical objects include cultural artefacts.

One software suite from scan to measurement

Disjointed software slows the path from scan to model. Revo Design and Revo Measure complement the scanner in a single workflow: from scan-to-CAD to inspection. The free Revo Scan 6 software is included. Scans are created and edited in it. Model merging works offline. Import and export do as well.

Areas of application

  • Scan-to-CAD and geometry inspection: The multi-line laser mode delivers single-frame accuracy of up to 0.03 mm. Revo Design and Revo Measure take you from scan to CAD model and inspection.
  • People and large workpieces: In VCSEL mode, the Revopoint POP 4 Standard Edition captures objects without markers at a distance of 300 – 800 mm at up to 30 fps.
  • Field and outdoor work: the VCSEL projector works at illuminance of up to 100,000 lx, and the Battery Grip provides about 4 hours of operation without a wall socket.
  • Art, prototypes and cultural heritage: the 1.3-megapixel RGB camera captures colour, and Gaussian Splatting builds a photorealistic 1:1 model in .splat format.
  • Deep holes and grooves: the single-line mode captures internal cavities; the minimum scanning volume is 10 × 10 × 10 mm.
  • Printing, animation and design: export to STL and 3MF prepares the model for printing, while the .splat format is suitable for animation.
