Bambu Lab AMS HT — a filament drying and feeding system for high-temperature materials. Active drying with humidity control prepares filament for printing without manual adjustments. The device supports multi-material printing with up to 24 colours simultaneously. A brushless servo motor and RFID synchronisation ensure stable feeding and automatic selection of drying parameters.

ParameterYour benefit
Maximum drying temperature: 85 °CAllows complete drying of engineering filaments such as PA and PC before printing, preventing defects caused by moisture.
Multi-colour printing: up to 24 coloursOne device replaces several feed units, simplifying multi-material printing of complex models.
Airtight storage: supportedFilament remains dry for weeks after drying, so reprocessing before every print is not required.
Ceramic inlet bushing: Vickers hardness 1200 HVReduces wear of the feed opening when working with abrasive composite filaments such as PETG-CF.
  • Automatic ventilation: an electromagnetic valve seals the chamber after drying, keeping filament humidity low for an extended period.
  • Rotational drying: the spool rotates during heating, so moisture is removed evenly along the entire length of the filament.
  • RFID synchronisation: the system reads spool data and automatically sets the temperature and drying time for genuine Bambu Lab materials.
  • Bypass outlet: a separate feed channel for brittle and elastic filaments bypasses the main path, reducing the risk of jamming.

Filament drying principle

Bambu Lab AMS HT dries filament at temperatures up to 85 °C for engineering materials such as PA and PC. This mode reduces moisture absorption before printing and lowers the risk of bubbling and layer separation.

The filament bypass outlet operates independently of the main drying chamber and is designed for soft or brittle materials. It prevents elastic filaments from contacting the toothed rollers of the main path, reducing the risk of jamming.

Drying and feeding automation

The electromagnetic ventilation valve automatically opens to remove moist air during drying and seals airtight once the cycle is complete. This ensures stable filament quality over several weeks of storage.

Air circulation: warm air flows around the filament spool in the drying chamber with a humidity sensor

During drying, the filament spool rotates automatically, so warm air evenly treats the entire length of the wound material. This eliminates uneven drying, which is typical of a static spool placement.

RFID tags on genuine Bambu Lab spools allow the AMS HT to automatically identify the filament type and apply the appropriate drying parameters. The operator does not need to manually enter the temperature or cycle duration for each material.

Housing materials and protection

The ceramic filament feed inlet bushings have a Vickers hardness of 1200 HV, which significantly increases their wear resistance. This is particularly important when working with abrasive composite filaments reinforced with carbon or glass fibre.

A precise temperature sensor combined with a physical safeguard shuts off heating if the set limits are exceeded. This prevents filament overheating and protects the device's electronics from damage.

The digital display shows humidity, temperature, and the remaining time until drying completion in real time. The operator can see the process status without connecting any additional software.

Compatibility with printers and filaments

The Bambu Lab AMS HT is compatible with all Bambu Lab printers, provided the appropriate accessory configuration is used, which must be purchased separately. The device supports a wide range of filaments, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PA, PC, and carbon-fibre-reinforced Bambu materials. TPU is also supported via the bypass outlet.
