What is the working area of the Ortur R1?

The Ortur R1 has a maximum engraving area of 100 × 100 mm with the 5 W LU3-5B laser module and 100 × 80 mm with the 1.3 W LR4-1A IR laser module.

Which laser module should I choose — 1.3 W IR (1064 nm) or 5 W blue-light?

The choice depends on the material. The 5 W LU3-5B module is optimised for non-metal materials including wood, leather, acrylic, MDF, fabric, and most plastics. The 1.3 W LR4-1A IR module at 1064 nm is designed for direct engraving on bare metals — gold, silver, brass, iron, aluminium, and stainless steel — without marking spray.

Can the R1's laser modules be used on other Ortur machines?

The LR4-1A infrared module used in the R1 is the same as in the Ortur R2, so these two are interchangeable. However, the 5 W LU3-5B module is exclusive to the R1 and cannot be adapted to other Ortur laser engravers.

Is the Ortur R1 safe for home and family use?
